Prof. Núria Triana Toribio and Prof. Sally Faulkner spoke at the invitation of the Grupo de investigación en Aprendizajes, Medios y Entretenimiento (GAME) (Research Group on Training, Media and Entertainment) in Barcelona on 3 December 2025. They presented the ‘Leading Women’ project and discussed the research behind their forthcoming co-authored monograph Leading Women in Spanish Cinema and Television of the Long 1970s (Bloomsbury, 2026), which will appear in 2026. Member of the ‘Leading Women’ project Advisory Group, Dr Fernando Ramos Arenas, of the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, also gave a presentation on his own collaborative EU-funded research project ‘Reboot: Reviving, Boosting, Optimising and Transforming European Film Competitiveness’.
A wide discussion followed the presentations which encompassed oral history methodology, research challenges and coping with the unexpected. Prof. Núria Triana Toribio and Prof. Sally Faulkner reflect on the latter in the Conclusion of their upcoming book, which is subtitled ‘On Looking for Something and Finding Something Else’.
Prof. Núria Triana Toribio and Prof. Sally Faulkner thank their UOC hosts, in particular Dr Cristina Pujol and Professor Jordi Sánchez Navarro, for the generous invitation and wide-ranging discussion.
